In no particular order, these are the people whom I would like to thank for either playing a role in my racing career or just making a difference in my life. There are so many people I would like to thank so please don't be offended if you're not on this page.
My Fiancée
The love of my life. I never thought I'd ever find someone who is so perfect
and just as insane as me. You are a gorgeous and simply amazing person and I'm
very lucky to have you in my life. Thank you for supporting me and being there
for me. You truly are the best future wifey I could ever hoped to have and I
can't beleive you were right under my nose for all those years... I love you
lots!
My Dad
What can I say? There is no way I would have got anywhere in life without your
guidance, support and wisdom. You have played such a huge role in every aspect
of my life. Your genius allowed me to buy my first home and your advice has
helped me in the business world. You have passionately followed my racing career
for so long, braved the worst weather, travelled hundreds of thousands of miles,
seen me win, seen me lose, and have always been there for support. You are always
there to force Budweiser down my neck at post-race "debriefs", then
of course there are the lads nights! You are the best father anyone could ever
hope for and a great friend!
My Mum
You have given me unrelenting and selfless love and support over the years.
You couldn't have done a better job of raising two boys, especially one as hyper-active,
difficult and quite frankly mental as me! You have always been the one who worried
about me and took care of me when I got hurt. You are always there to give me
words of encouragement with the racing, despite how much I know it scares you.
You have been the perfect mother.
My Brother
Well you have always been a pain in the arse! But seriously, you have also been
a fantastic brother and I value the bond we share. You may never realise just
how much you honored me by asking me to be the best man at your wedding; a duty
that I was only too happy to reciprocate at my wedding.
My Grandad - (24/07/14 - 19/03/03)
Someone I will always have a tremendous amount of admiration and respect for.
He had an incredible, albeit difficult, life and somehow came out stonger and
with no bitternesss. He was loved by many people, especially his family. He
will never know just how much he helped me in life. You are dearly missed!
Mark van Keulen
One of my best mates. You have been a pillar of support over the past few years
and have always been there to give me moral support and advice - usually over
a few pints in the pub. You have seen me through some dark times over the years.
Just a fantastic bloke and the best mate anybody could ask for and it's great
to see you so settled down and happy... even if you do live up North now!
Stuart Weatherley
You have played an instrumental role in not just my racing career but my whole
life. You introduced me to motorsport in the first place and, for a long time,
were the benchmark to which I measured my competitiveness. Remember the marathon
bike rides, winning the Indy 500 on the PC and me beating you in the rowing
competition at the gym? You have played an invaluable role in getting me to
where I am in life today. A genuinely nice person and a great friend.
David Green
One of my closest and longest standing friends (a tough role for anyone!), who
was present on that fateful day at Silverstone in 1993 when I first sat behind
the wheel of a kart. You are always there for your friends and have always been
so understanding - even when some of your friends can't make it to your stag
night because they are racing, or forget your birthdays completely and forget
to turn up to your wedding... You have played a big part in my life and I value
your friendship more than the above incidents suggest!
Stephen Deuchar
Obviously a big thanks to all of the original members of IMSD Racing but special
thanks to Steve who gave me my big break in Endurance racing and was one of
the first people to recognise my talent and take me seriously as a driver. The
man who took me to International stardom at circuits like Spa-Francorchamps
and Le Mans! As well as being an all-round nice bloke, you are a fantastic team
leader and team player and I look back on the IMSD Racing days with fond memories.
Peter Banks
You have played a major role in my life in a relatively short space of time.
You have been extremely good to me over the years - especially putting up with
my "tourettes" syndrome day after day! I can't imagine how dull life
would be without your didgeridooing, doobrey wot-notting and walking out of
the room in mid sentence... You are a good friend and one of the most compassionate
people I have ever met. Will you ever finish a sentence though?
Everyone at Frontmedia
People who took a huge risk in taking me on, showed great faith and allowed
me to fulfil my full potential. You are a great bunch of guys and thanks to
you I have managed to achieve much in both of my careers. I would especially
like to thank Simon Tompsett for giving me the opportunity in the first place,
Stefan Cybichowski for always being interested in how the racing was going and
who also plucked me from the obscurity of pub karaoke to be lead singer in a
real band. Memories of paper aeroplane fights with Adam Gibson and going down
on Shivani Patel on a daily basis will live with me forever.
Everyone at Club100
Especially JV who, through his vision, has allowed me to enjoy great success
over the years and achieve many of my childhood goals. Thanks to the sprint
team of Steve and Jel Dart. The ever watchful eyes of Russ and Big Mick. The
test drivers, Niki, Barnaby and Mason. Big thanks to Carson and his team of
great mechanics and to everybody else who works behind the scenes. You all do
a fantastic job.
