Eddie has signed up to compete in the four round BPKDC 390 Club Pro Winter Championship, it has been revealed. The Man of Steel series kicks off a week after the last race of the Club100 Premier Endurance race and runs until February, meaning that Eddie will compete all throughout the calendar year between 2006 and 2007.
Eddie said “I am looking forward to competing in this championship. I have been eyeing up the series for a couple of years now, especially after the fun I have had the last two years in the non-championship race with (IMSD Racing team-mate) Stephen.”
Eddie also revealed that he came close to competing in a one off race in the Summer championship this year.
“I planned to do one or two races in the summer this year, and was put on the reserve list. Then the offer came to race in the Property Prokart Challenge 8 Hour race at Daytona, which crippled by 2006 budget, and I couldn’t race.”
Eddie has competed in two non-championship Thunderkart races with Stephen Deuchar, finishing 3rd in 2004 and 1st in 2005 (although the race was postponed until 2006). Despite this success, Eddie was adamant that he was simply competing for fun.
“I don’t know how well I will fare. I have never driven one of these 390 Pro’s before and when I go out for qualifying in November, that will be my first experience. I think that they will be similar to the Thunderkarts but I don’t know. I really just want to have fun and try to keep my hand in over the winter.”
Eddie also stated that there will be no new dates added for 2006.
“I have now maxed out the 2006 budget and will have to start eating into next years, which means that this will be it for 2006. We will have to see what happens next year as I am running on a shoestring at the moment.” |
